ACC Championship: FSU Vs. Georgia TechBy Jonathan K.
Not only is the ACC Championship on the line for the FSU Seminoles in this game but they are also playing for the NCAA Playoff hopes. Standing in their way is Georgia Tech who with two losses is not thinking about Playoffs. Instead they simply want to come out of this game ACC Champs.
Florida State, with their undefeated record over two seasons, winning 28 straight games and going 15-13 against the spread, opened as four-point favorites to win this one and the line has stayed firm. Even with their status as the last undefeated college football team and defending champs, the Seminoles are in danger of missing the NCAA playoffs.
The face is that the Seminoles undefeated season was an ugly one with a ton of close calls against major underdogs and a ton of off-the-field drama, in particular for quarterback Jameis Winston, that did not help things for FSU.
Florida State is not going to have an easy time tonight. Winston has been playing well and is the biggest factor in the team remaining undefeated this season. With that said, Winston did throw four interceptions in their last game against Florida. They still pulled out the victory but if Winston throws for interception to Georgia Tech, they will not have much of a shot at recovering.
The Seminoles likely need this win to stay in the top four. If they lose they will likely lose their spot. If they do win they will be underdogs throughout the entire NCAA Playoffs, but bettors can worry about that after they make it past Georgia Tech.
Georgia Tech are underdogs but they are not out of this game. The Yellow Jackets are 5-0 against the spread and straight up in their last five games. FSU has failed to cover the spread the last five times they faced off against the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech also covered against two ranked teams in their last two games.
Total is set at 60 points. Georgia Tech is 6-3 on the under in their last nine games and 4-2 on the under in their last four meetings with the Seminoles.
The game starts at 8 p.m. ET and you can watch it on ABC.
