Eagles RB DeMarco Murray ‘100 Percent’ Wants To Stay In Philadelphia

Last season, DeMarco Murray was without a doubt the best running back in the NFL. Murray made good use of the elite offensive line he had with the Dallas Cowboys and put up career-high numbers across the board.

Unfortunately, Murray’s impressive production on the gridiron wasn’t enough to convince the Cowboys brass that he was worth signing long-term in the NFL offseason. As a result, Murray tested the free agent market and ultimately signed with the division rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Although the Eagles already had the versatile Darren Sproles and were also able to acquire Ryan Matthews, Murray felt that he could make a considerable impact in Philadelphia under innovative head coach Chip Kelly. Murray may have made a move that he regrets with rumors surfacing that he wouldn’t mind being cut so he can return to Dallas.

Recently, Murray was asked about the speculation surrounding his future with the Eagles. Murray claims he remains dedicated to staying in Philadelphia moving forward via NFL Network’s Albert Breer:

The Eagles head into Week 14 with a record of 5-7 and still having a legitimate shot to win the NFC East division title. The NFC East is arguably the worst division in the NFL right now with the Washington Redskins, New York Giants, and Eagles sporting 5-7 records. Only the Dallas Cowboys have a worse record at 4-8.

Philadelphia may still be in playoff contention, but Murray hasn’t been close to the same running back that dominated the competition last year. Murray has rushed for 569 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 3.49 yards per carry. The 27-year-old back also has 295 yards receiving and one receiving touchdown for the Eagles.

Last year with the Cowboys, Murray racked up 2,261 total yards with 13 touchdowns. Obviously, this season’s totals in Philadelphia is a far cry from what he was able to do in Dallas.
