First Four: Boise State Versus La Salle Preview

The east coast first four games are tipping off 10 p.m. or later.  This means we all need a good excuse to stay up that late.  Boise State versus La Salle later tonight is a pretty good reason to sit up and watch some basketball.

Both these teams are not expected to go deep into March Madness and are often overlooked.  This is a huge mistake as both these teams are capable of defeating top tier teams.  Boise State has victories over UNLV, San Diego State and Creighton.  Boise State are defensive monsters, rarely given team clean looks.  La Salle has gotten wins over VCU, Butler and their biggest win comes against Villanova.  Both these teams haven’t been to the NCAA Tournament since the mid-90s and are determined to make a big splash in March Madness. Both these teams guards are the highlights of their roster.  Boise State’s Derrick Marks is fast and has the capability to put up over 30 points a game.  Anthony Drmic is his shooting guard who shoots for over 45 percent from the field.   On La Salle’s side, the guards (Ramon Galloway, Tyreek Duren and Tyrone Garland) put up 62 percent of Las Salle’s points.  Galloway alone averages 17 points, 4 assists and 2 steals per game.  In other words, all eyes are going to be on these thrilling guards.

Boise State will be coming at La Salle like they have come at all teams this season.  They play fast paced offense and cover teams on defense with relentless pressure.  The Key for Boise State to go on to take on Kansas State will be limiting the fast and furious Galloway.  For La Salle, if Galloway has his way and forces turn overs, makes shots and creates shots we will be talking about La Salle taking on Kansas State very shortly.

Boise State are the slight favorites to win this game with a -2 point spread.  Expect a close and exciting game, bettors.
