James Harden Says The Nets’ Big 3 Will Be ‘Scary’

James Harden says Brooklyn’s big three of Irving, Durant and himself will be ‘scary’ when they play enough games together.

Since joining the Nets, James Harden has performed exceptionally and broken a few records in his 21 games. He recently recorded his 7th triple double for the Nets, the most in a season since Jason Kidd had 12.

However, James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have only played together seven times. There is another level the Nets can hit when they combine consistently.

“I’m just excited for us, as a whole, to be able to play as many games as we can together because the potential that we have is very, very scary,” Harden said.

“We’re still just doing whatever it takes to come away with wins. … The potential is going to be scarier when [Durant] gets back. But for right now, we’re holding it down, and we’re coming together as a team.”

Harden was speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets. It will be the first time he’s played against his former team in the summer.

Harden told ESPN that he hopes to be ‘received with love’. He left the team because he no longer saw them as a championship contender.

Despite the acrimony of his exit, there is still a lot of affection between Harden and the city of Houston. Owner Tilman Fertitta said ‘Harden will always be a Rockets’ and the team plans to eventually retire his number 13 jersey.

As well as that, Harden has been donating meals to victims of the winter storm through his Houston restaurant, thirteen.

Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving has played down the idea of tension between the two teams when they play on Wednesday night.

“Everybody at home, enjoy the game, there will be no tension and no s— -talking going on, on the court or about James in my presence or anybody else’s presence. So we’re coming to Houston, to enjoy the game of basketball and play it at a high level on behalf of James and the rest of the guys, because we know it’s a special night regardless.”
