5 teams that should trade for Julio Jones right now

If the Atlanta Falcons are going to trade wide receiver Julio Jones, here are five teams that should make the move immediately.

5. Miami Dolphins

The first of three AFC East teams on the list. Miami has a question it must answer in 2021; is Tua Tagovailoa going to be the answer long-term at quarterback? While DeVante Parker is a nice player, adding Julio Jones to the mix would. give Tagovailoa one of the best tandems in the league. If he can’t succeed with those two, it goes a long way toward answering the most important question facing general manager Chris Grier. Miami would need to create a bit of cap space, but it could work.

4. New York Jets

If the Jets are going to completely rebrand the team in both reality and public eye, why not go for Jones? New York has long been a dormant franchise but did a nice job this offseason by hiring head coach Robert Saleh, taking BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick and signing receiver Corey Davis to a three-year deal. However, New York is still without a top-tier talent on the outside, and Jones would obviously fit the bill. Give Wilson the best chance to develop.

3. Los Angeles Chargers

Another young quarterback, another AFC team that could use an additional weapon. Jones along with veteran receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams? Quarterback Justin Herbert would have to be thrilled. Los Angeles is a good club with a ceiling because of the Kansas City Chiefs, who have won the AFC West in five straight campaigns. Grabbing Jones for a draft pick or two would potentially launch the Chargers into a true battle for the division.

2. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are in a weird spot. They’re trying to win now with one of the league’s best rosters, but they are also looking to eventually break in rookie quarterback Trey Lance either this year or next. Regardless, Jones services both of those situations. Adding Jones to an offense with tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel is outrageous in the short term, and helps Lance become a quality NFL quarterback in the long term. The ultimate win-win.

1. New England Patriots

It’s not Bill Belchick’s style to trade big assets for a player, but Jones would transform the Patriots. New England needs an outside threat beyond Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor. With one, either veteran quarterback Cam Newton or rookie Mac Jones becomes that much more dangerous.  The future Hall of Famer would make the. Patriots a legit contender in the AFC East.
