Kansas City Chiefs already talking about another Super Bowl next year

The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII. During their parade on Wednesday, they already began talking about more.

A dynasty? It’s arguable. The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to making the argument end in the coming years.

After beating the Philadelphia Eagles by a 38-35 count on Sunday night in Super Bowl LVII, the Chiefs have won two championships in four years. They’ve reached three Super Bowls in that span. Kansas City has also hosted five consecutive AFC Championship Games and won seven straight AFC West crowns, showcasing a dominance rarely seen in NFL history.

At their championship parade on Wednesday in downtown Kansas City, the Chiefs were already thinking about more. This was exemplified by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who took to the microphone and gave his thoughts, per ESPN:

“I just want to let you all know that this is just the beginning. We ain’t done yet, so I’ll make sure to hit y’all back next year and I hope the crowd’s the same.

“We’re back again. We’re back again. Before we started this season, the AFC West said we were rebuilding. I’ll be honest with you. I don’t know what rebuilding means. In our rebuilding year, we’re world champs.”

For Kansas City, there’s plenty of reasons to believe it’ll be the first team to repeat since the 2003-04 New England Patriots. Looking at Vegas books, the Chiefs are the favorites across the board. For example, Kansas City is sitting at +600 over at FanDuel.

Furthermore, the Chiefs have a pretty solid situation with regard to free agency. Kansas City general manager Brett Veach will likely slap the franchise tag on left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. for the second straight year before trying to negotiate a long-term deal. Then there’s wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, safety Juan Thornhill, defensive tackles Derrick Nnadi and Khalen Saunders, and right tackle Andrew Wylie hitting the open market, but none will command a huge deal.

Regardless of who among those aforementioned players returns, the Chiefs are going to have a young, ascending defense, the league’s best coaching staff and a wunderkind in Mahomes, throwing to perhaps the greatest tight end of all time in Travis Kelce.

For Kansas City, it’s seven months until it starts the quest to become a dynasty by any standard.
