Raiders parting ways with Sebastian Janikowski

Nearly two decades after the Oakland Raiders drafted kicker Sebastian Janikowski No. 17 overall out of Florida State, it seems the Polish Powder Keg is on his way out of town.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that the Raiders informed Janikowski that he will not be brought back in 2018.

This news shouldn’t come as a shock. In fact, last year it was rumored that Janikowski, who didn’t kick at all for Oakland in 2017, was on the chopping block midway through the season. He ended up being placed on injured reserve with a back injury.

And despite his long run, the simple fact of the matter is that he isn’t a very accurate kicker, especially in today’s NFL.

Over the course of his career, Janikowski hit on 80.4 percent of his attempts and had a career long of 63 yards. His 44 made field goals ranks No. 10 on the all-time list, and he ranks 44th all time on the career field-goal percentage list.
