Adrian Peterson very close to deal with Saints
The New Orleans Saints and Adrian Peterson are reportedly closing in on a contract that would pay over $3 million in 2017, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
Sources: #Saints & Adrian Peterson believed to be closing in on a deal that’d pay him $3M+ in ’17. Not done, but moving in that direction.

Peterson previously met with the Saints but left without a contract.
This would be a very interesting move by New Orleans, which already have Mark Ingram on the roster. Ingram rushed for 1,043 yards and six touchdowns last year, and the Saints aren’t exactly a run-first team.
Additionally, New Orleans has bigger issues on the defensive side of the ball, and adding an aging running back to the mix isn’t going to push this team into Super Bowl LII.
Peterson missed all but three games last year and had knee surgery. It was his second year out of the past three that he missed extensive time, and Father Time might be closing in on his ability to produce at a high level on a consistent basis.
