New England Patriots, -1000
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have a lot to be happy about they certainly felt like the old Patriots when they put a hurting on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Â They defeated the Steelers 55-31.
The Patriots had a very rocky start to the season despite having an overall record of 7-2. Â They struggled on offense, as Brady had a hard time shaping his rookie receivers into the pros they needed to be. Â The Pats defense hasn’t been anything to write home about in a couple years now either. Â However, the turning point may very well have happened over the weekend when they beat the Steelers.
Not to rain on the parade, but it was just the Steelers. While the Pats had a great offensive day both through the air and on the ground, their defense still allowed 31 points against a very broken Steelers team. Â The D-Line and O-line also showed inconsistency throughout the game. Â It is not time to declare the Pats a Superbowl team, despite them having the best odds to win the AFC East.
New York Jets, +700
The biggest threat to the Patriots reign at the top of the AFC East is the New York Jets. Â The Jets got an upset 26-20 win over the New Orleans Saints this week. Â In a surprising turn of events Geno Smith managed the game very well and surprisingly had zero turnovers a feat he was only able to accomplish one other time this season.
Smith is growing as a quarterback. Â While last week’s 49-9 blowout against the Cincinnati Bengals was Smith on one of his worst days, he has also shown sparks of greatness like leading a game winning touchdown drive against a solid Saints squad. Â However if he does not settle into an identity the Jets will have to wait to next year.
Miami Dolphins, +900
The Miami Dolphins have been in the headlines for all the wrongs reasons over the last few weeks. Â The bullying and harassment controversy surrounding Richie Incognito is overshadowing the great game they had against the Bengals that snapped a four game losing streak.
However, the Dolphins are not as improved as we all thought them to be earlier in the season. Â They still have some building to do before they look to get atop the AFC East.
Buffalo Bills +7500
The Buffalo Bills are not given much of a chance in to do much this season according to the sportsbooks. Â The Bills have given some big teams some scares and are proving to be a feisty team. It is also not too late for the Bills to mount a comeback. Â However, the Bills have a problem with winning and likely will all season.
