AFC South Week 17 Picks
The Indianapolis Colts have had the AFC South title clinched for weeks now, but with one last opportunity to bet on, or against the other three teams in the division this weekend, bettors should get in on the action. They may not be the highest profile games of the week 17, but our two picks for the games in the AFC South this week are solid nonetheless, so check ’em out!
Houston Texans +7 at Tennessee Titans -7
In riding a horrid 13-game losing skid, all the Houston Texans have left to play for now is the 2014 No. 1 draft pick. Of course, they could always muster up some pride and end this drought once and for all. However, considering they’ve lost their last two games by a combined 46 points, the Texans may be one of the few NFL teams packing it in early for the winter.
Like the Texans, the Tennessee Titans‘ season has also been mired in disappointment, but hosting the league’s worst team has to be positive news for Titans head coach Mike Munchak, who is hoping a win this week and a 7-9 record is good enough to keep his job.
Even though the Titans are just 2-5 at home this season, we have to like them against a completely deflated Texans squad. Take Tennessee to cover -7 in the win this Sunday.
Jacksonville Jaguars +11.5 at Indianapolis Colts -11.5
After starting their 2013 campaign 0-8, the Jacksonsville Jaguars appeared to be destined for another AFC South basement finish, but the Jags have ended the season relatively strong and will look to earn their fifth win in the second half this weekend against the newly-crowned 2013 division champion Colts.
However, winning in Indy certainly won’t be easy for the Jags, especially considering the Colts are still vying for a coveted first round bye in the AFC playoffs. When you factor in the fact that the Colts demolished Jacksonville 37-3 on the road earlier this season, things certainly don’t look good for the underdog in this one.
With that said, the Jags are playing their best football of the season at the moment, while the Colts have slipped up a bit recently, even in wins. Indy may win the day, but look for Jacksonville to cover +11.5 this weekend.
