Alex Collins To Remain in Free Agency Due to Injury

Alex Collins has suffered yet another setback to his NFL career, and likely won’t find a team for 2019.

The free agent running back suffered a broken leg two weeks ago which required surgery, according to NFL.com.

Alex Collins was drafted in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2016. In 2017, he joined the Baltimore Ravens, and that’s when he really came to the fore.

In his first season in Baltimore, Alex Collins led the team in rushing yards with 973. As well as that, he was tops in yards from scrimmage, with 1,160.

After a more lacklustre 2018 season, he was placed on injured reserve with a foot issue. Collins had been on the path towards tender in Baltimore, but was waived after his arrest in March.

Collins was arrested following a car crash, and has since been charged with possession of marijuana and carrying a firearm in his vehicle.

He had hoped to return to the field once all of that was dealt with, but now he will spend the year in rehab.

Collins took to Instagram to announce the news, saying he won’t let his bad luck get him down.

“I refuse to be discouraged,” Collins wrote.

“Instead, I have faith and am optimistic about the process. I believe that all that has happened is making “I have already begun the healing and rehab process, and I fully trust God’s plan for me,” Collins wrote.

“I look forward to getting back to playing football and doing what I love most. Thank you for everyone who has supported me. I’ll be back Irish dancing soon.”

He can hope that a team gambles on him before September, but it would be a big gamble.
