Allen Lazard A Potentially Smart Get In Free Agency
Free agent wide receiver Allen Lazard worries the grass can’t be greener than the grass in Green Bay.
Allen Lazard had nothing but praise for the Packers, with whom he just enjoyed his best season.Â
The undrafted Iowa state product rose to prominence in the absence of experienced receivers last season. He was the team’s leading receiver with 788 yards and six touchdowns.
Allen Lazard had 100 targets in 2022, catching 60 of them. The next most targeted Packers receiver had 67 targets.

“I’ve been very spoiled the past four or five years to be in the Packers organization,” Lazard said. “I think they’re obviously a first-class organization just how they go about their relationship with the fans, how they treat the players. Just the whole experience there. Having coach (Matt) LaFleur and Nathaniel Hackett there the past few years and obviously having Aaron (Rodgers) as the quarterback.
“I’m almost sort of bougie, I feel like, in what I’m going to be wanting out of an organization. I have such high expectations. But that’s only because I’ve seen that and I’ve experienced that, and I think the record — minus last year, the three years before that — it kind of shows you why they’re able to have that success.”

Although Aaron Rodgers wants him to return, Lazard could quickly be out of Green Bay’s price range. He could reasonably expect some good offers, but it depends on other teams’ perception of him. If coaches believe he can play that well without Rodgers, he could get paid.
“My agent, I believe, has started to talk to them a little bit in recent weeks, but they haven’t said anything as far as preventing me from going to the open market,” he said.
