Anthony Davis and Lakers On The Same Championship Page

Anthony Davis is determined to win an NBA championship, and apparently he’s putting all his eggs in the Lakers basket.

The new Lakers forward has already had an accomplished NBA career. Anthony Davis has won an NCAA Championship, six All-Star appearances and an Olympic Gold medal.

However, the former No.1 pick has not yet played in an NBA Finals. Anthony Davis came close twice over seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans. In 2018, the Pelicans lost to the Golden State Warriors in round 2 of the playoffs.

That was the closest Davis has come to the championship so far.

“I don’t think I have a failure that I’ve had yet,” Davis told ESPN

If he feels that way, he certainly won’t want a failure anytime in his career. For Davis, this means he must win the championship in his career. The new Lakers star says he will work every day to avoid that failure.

“Obviously, at the end of my career, if I don’t win a championship that would be, I would feel that’s one of my biggest failures. But right now, I still have a lot to do in this world on and off the court.

“So I don’t feel like I’ve failed in anything. I think I just continue to do it over until I succeed at it.”

The Lakers enter year two of their LeBron James led campaign to return the team to glory. LeBron James couldn’t play every game last season and the Lakers faded as a result.

After 6 consecutive years out of the playoffs, Davis and LeBron will be under pressure to form an elite partnership. As general manager Rob Pelinka echoes, the time for that has to be now.

“For us, anything short of a championship is not success,” Pelinka said.

“So we have to learn from last season because we didn’t win a championship. And a lot of that went into the construction of the roster this year.”
