Anthony Davis Could Miss Golden State Warriors Clash

Anthony Davis fought through the pain to help the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Phoenix Suns 123 – 115 on Tuesday.

Anthony Davis played through ongoing right shoulder soreness, and a blow to the ribs sustained during the game. However, his 24 points and 12 rebounds could have come at a cost. Anthony Davis is now a doubt for the Lakers’ second leg of their back-to-back, against the Golden State Warriors.

After taking a blow to the ribs, Davis went to get taped up between the third and fourth quarter. The 8 – 2 Lakers said that he’ll be reevaluated on Wednesday. After the game, Davis could not confirm if he would be fit to face the Warriors.

“I just want to play,” he said.

“Like I said, it’s tough for me to lead from the sideline.

“The more I can do on the floor to help this team win, that’s what I try to do. I know what our goal is, I know what we’re trying to build. So the more I can try to stay on the floor, the more steps we move toward our goal.”

“We’ll see how the shoulder injury and the ribs feel tomorrow when I get up,” Davis said.

“And we’ll go from there.”

LeBron James was full of praise for the young big man’s ‘grit’ after the game.

“He wants to play,” LeBron said. “And we just have to pick it up.

“For him, when he’s showing that grit when he’s playing with injuries, there’s no reason for any of us not to be out there, as well. He’s been showing everything.”

If Davis misses the game against Golden State on Wednesday, he will surely be on the court in the next game. The Lakers’ next game after that is on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings.
