Bailey Zappe Eager To Build On 4 Appearances From 2022

Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe knows he has an opportunity to usurp Mac Jones next season, and he’s ready to pounce.

The 2022 fourth-round pick made four appearances (two starts) last season and won three of those games. Bailey Zappe finished the season with 65-of-92 passes for 781 yards, five TDs, three picks and 40 yards rushing.

Head coach Bill Belichick has left the question of who will be QB1 open as he didn’t name Mac Jones the starter when asked at the Annual League Meeting in March.

“Well, everybody will get a chance to play. We’ll play the best players,” said Belichick.

“Every position. Everybody will get a chance to play,” he added. “Everybody that’s on our roster, if they earn the opportunity to play, based on what they do in practice and all that then they’ll get the opportunity to play. Certainly, veteran players who have been on our team before, if they’re still on the team, will all get an opportunity to play.”

“If my opportunity presents itself, I’m going to take full advantage of it,” said Bailey Zappe.

“I’m going to do everything I can to help the team win. That’s really all I can say from that standpoint. That’s coach Belichick’s decision, whatever he decides. But if the opportunity presents itself, I’m going to be ready and take advantage of it.”
