Baker Mayfield Preaches Focus Amid High Expectations
Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield can’t wait to start orchestrating Cleveland’s new-look roster in the 2021 NFL season, and no wonder.
In fact, the Cleveland Browns arguably have the most complete roster in the league after a smart offseason.
A Baker Mayfield purple patch at the end of last year led Cleveland to it’s first playoff win since 1994. As a result, expectations are high this time around.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski has a loaded new defense to play with including Jadeveon Clowney, Troy Hill and John Johnson.

“I’m really excited,” Baker Mayfield said.Â
“All the moves that we’ve made, bringing some of these guys in. Obviously, really talented people, but seems like it’s a bunch of locker room guys. Good chemistry going on. I’m excited to get this thing, get it running.”
As well as that, Odell Beckham Jr. is returning from injury and alongside players who were there last season like Jarvis Landry, Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb, the Browns know they have an opportunity next season.

“We’ve definitely had a lot of conversations about expectations come within our own locker room,” Mayfield said.Â
“You know, you set your own standards, you can’t listen to any of the outside stuff and that’s what matters. Because you can feed into the good stuff or the bad and it’s all going to negatively affect you. We have to do a good job of keeping our guys focused one day and one week at a time.”
At the least, Cleveland should compete for the AFC North title. If it all comes together for Mayfield and company, even the Kansas City Chiefs will take notice. We’re not in ‘say it quietly’ territory with this anymore, say it loudly. The Browns are back.
