Big 10 Over/Under Win totals now Available

The Big Ten conference will be strong from top to bottom and the first list of over/under for win totals had been released. Here are the top five over/under picks for the Big Ten.

Of course, at the top of the list in the Big Ten are the Ohio State Buckeyes. Their over/under win total has been released at 11.5 with the Over sitting on +140 and the Under on -180.

Everyone knows the Buckeyes were 12-0 during last season and it was the first season under the helm of Urban Meyer. Many believe the season will be better this season and that is understandable after looking at the team’s schedule. However, it is difficult to go undefeated one season, let along two consecutive seasons.

Alabama is a good example, the Crimson Tide has won two straight national championships yet they could not go undefeated in the regular season.

Ohio State will be strong offensively with Braxton Miller their Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback returning, but only four of their starters from last season’s defense are returning.

Changes are they lose one game and most likely to Michigan to end the regular season.

Pick: UNDER

The Michigan Wolverines have been given the win total of 9.5, with the Over on -105 and the Under on +135. Is it possible for the Wolverines to improve by two games over last season? Only 12 of the 22 starters from both sides of the ball return, with only four from both the defensive and offensive line combined.

They have to face Ohio State and Notre Dame and those two games will dictate if their season is 10 wins or 9. With four difficult road games in the conference, anything could happen.

Pick: UNDER

Nebraska is also on 9.5 with the Over even and the Under on -140. Last season the Cornhuskers reached 10 wins. Quarterback Taylor Martinez is back to call the plays on offense, as is nearly all of the skill player positions offensively. However, just four starters return on defense. Their schedule however will be conducive to a 10-win season, but they will need to beat UCLA early in the season. If they can start strong and get out to a 6-0 or 7-0 start, they can reach that 10 win plateau.

Pick: OVER

Penn State has been given a win total of 8.5, with the Over on +150 and the Under on -190. This will be Bill O’Brien’s second season at the helm of the Nittany Lions and Matt McGloin is not returning as the team’s quarterback so the team will have to start from scratch at one of the most important positions on the field. Last season Penn State was 8-4. They face both Wisconsin and Ohio State. Chances are their record will be similar if not worse that last season.

Pick: UNDER

Wisconsin also has been given the 8.5 win number with the Over on -210 and the Under on +160. With those opening odds, its looks like odds makers are sure Wisconsin will reach the 9 wins plateau.

The Badgers lost Montee Bell but there are plenty more where he came from on the roster. The defensive secondary could be a concern because of lack of experience but with the schedule they have aside from games against Penn State and Arizona State, not many teams can air it out with any regularity against them.

Wisconsin does have a new coach after Bret Bielema bolted to Arkansas, but Gary Anderson is capable, but look for at least one loss that is unexpected during the season.

Pick: UNDER

Honorable mention: Michigan State 8.5 Pick: UNDER, Northwestern 8.5 Pick: OVER
