Big 12 Championship Saturday Preview

It is the final week of football in the Big 12, but Big 12 fans know tomorrow as “Championship Saturday.”  There are two games that will have a huge impact on who will eventual be crowned the Big 12 Champions.

The first is a showdown between two in-state rivals as Oklahoma takes on Oklahoma State. The second game will be between Baylor and Texas and may very well decide who the Big 12 champ is.

Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State

Big 12 Championship Saturday Preview

If Oklahoma manages to upset Oklahoma State then that means Oklahoma State’s chance at the Big 12 Championship is over and Baylor will play Texas to crown a division champ.

The Sooners will also have the opportunity to join an elite class of BCS teams including Alabama, Oregon and Stanford as teams with 10 win over four consecutive seasons.

Oklahoma State has the chance to keep their Big 12 Championship hopes alive and will also be looking to finish the season undefeated at home.

Oklahoma’s challenge will be slowing the Cowboys offense. Oklahoma State averages just under 50 points a game and on average outscore opponents by 28 points a game.

Oklahoma State is favored to win with a -10.5 point spread. The over/under is set at 57 points. The game starts at 11 a.m. ET and you can watch it on ABC.

Texas @ Baylor

Big 12 Championship Saturday Preview

Both Texas and Baylor would like to see the Sooner upset Oklahoma State.  However, their game will also have major Big 12 Championship implications.

Baylor is looking for an 11-win season and are looking to make a bid for a big BCS bowl. A win against Texas would cap off the season.

Texas battled its way back from a 1-2 start to compete for the Big 12 Championship and have every intention of winning so they can either be or share the Big 12 Championship.

Texas has a balanced attack on offense with both a run and passing threat.  However, their defense struggles against the run. Baylor is fourth in the nation in passing.  They can use that to open up the field for their 11th place rushing attack.

Baylor are the huge favorites in this game with a -16 point spread. The over/under is set at 71, so the books are expecting a high scoring affair. The game starts at 2:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
