Bills In Must-Win Situation Versus Jets
The New York Jets are sitting at 2-8 and a playoff run is already out of reach. The Buffalo Bills are 5-5 and are still clinging, though just barely, to their playoff hopes. It is a must win for the Bills, while the Jets have a chance to spoil their AFC East rivals season.
The line has fluctuated quite a bit for this contest. The Bills started out as big 4.5 favorites. The line now has dropped between 2.5 and 3 with the Bills still as favorites. Bovada has them with a –3 moneyline.
The Bills not only need this win, but they are now in territory where they can’t afford to lose after suffering back-to-back losses to Kansas City as 2-point home favorites and the Miami Dolphins as 4-point under dogs on the road.
The Jets are a good team to face for the Bills, as they are very familiar with the team. Their last win came against the Jets back on Oct. 26, 43-23.
Kyle Orton is still struggling to find the end zone and while they could previously rely on running back Fred Jackson he has been playing through a groin injury and is questionable for tonight’s game.
The Jets had a bye last week, but the week before they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers with an upset 20-13 home victory as 4.5-underdogs. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for New York.
Michael Vick has been key to what little success the Jet have had. He has posted QB ratings over 100 in his two games as a starter, 116 in his last game, and his talent at avoiding the pass rush will come in handy against the Bills’ No.1 pass rush defense. New York is 2-2 against the spread in their last four games.
The total is set at 42. The last six times the Bills have met the Jets, the over is 5-1.
This game starts at 7 p.m. ET and you can watch it on CBS.
This is one of two games tonight. The other is the MNF battle between the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens on ESPN.
