Brian Flores Has Support of New Dolphins Players

A disappointing 5 – 11 Miami Dolphins campaign in 2019 hasn’t diminished the reputation of second year head coach Brian Flores.

Brian Flores coached his first NFL year with a roster that was clearly deficient in talent. That won’t be the case in 2020, because the Dolphins have been improving this offseason.

Miami has signed 10 free agents this summer. Seven of those have come from playoff teams, instantly upgrading the mentality in Miami.

As well as that, the Dolphins have 14 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, including three in the first round. They will likely land their franchise quarterback to add to a revamped defense.

Why would potential Super Bowl contenders choose to join a losing team? One reason, Brian Flores.

“My number one reason is Coach Flores. He just made me feel so comfortable with coming down,” said linebacker Elandon Roberts.

“Just knowing how good of a leader he is on and off the field, how much he cares about you as a player. … I’m 100% bought in. I can’t wait to get down there, and I love that I’m a Miami Dolphin.”

Center Ted Karras turned down a two year offer from the Patriots in favor of a one year deal with the Dolphins.

“I really believe in what Coach Flores is building and doing here, and I kind of wanted to get in and help him build it,” Karras said.

Perhaps Miami’s biggest get of the summer is cornerback Byron Jones, who is excited to play for Flores.

“I am fired up to play for Miami. This is a young team that’s going in the right direction,” said Jones.

“[Flores is] a young coach and I love that. He’s got young energy. I hear he’s intense and he likes to create competitive scenarios, competitive situations. That’s just something that I like and I wanted to be a part of. … That’s exciting for me, just to be on a team that he’s leading.”
