Broncos GM John Elway Wants To See A Leader Emerge Between Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch
It appears Denver Broncos general manager John Elway is getting tired of the back and forth between quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. The two-time Super Bowl champion and former undisputed leader of the franchise on the field wants one of the two to prove they deserve to be the starter moving forward.
Elway recently spoke about the two quarterbacks in Denver and how one of them needs to take over as the leader under center as the upcoming regular season approaches, via Josh Dubow of the Associated Press.
“We’d like the decision made by itself,” Broncos GM John Elway said Thursday. “We want one of them to take the reins and take over. That would be the ideal situation. We’ll get through this game and see what happens.”
The start of the 2017 NFL regular season is right around the corner for the Broncos. Denver has only a few more games in the preseason before they’re thrust into the 2017 campaign and forced to compete in one of the most competitive divisions in football in the AFC West.
Obviously, to have any success in this league the team needs to have stability at the quarterback position. Both Lynch and Siemian have shown promise, but it seems clear neither one has separated himself from the other on the field.
The clock is ticking, and Elway appears to be getting impatient with no clear favorite to be named the starter.
