Brooklyn Brawl: Nets Vs. Knicks

It may still be early in the NBA season, but there is a lot of reason to win Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET for both the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets.

It is a showdown to determine the best team in New York State and both teams need to get a win that feels like a big one as both are slumping.

The Nets are 5.5-point favorites to beat New York and they could use the win. The Nets are coming off a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves that snapped a two-game win streak.

The loss was sparked by poor late game play and a 17 turnovers from Brooklyn as they allowed the T-Wolves to recover from behind and score the last nine points of the ball game to win 98-91.

The Nets will need to avoid giving the ball away to New York in order to win this one. The Knicks average 15 points per game off of turnovers.

The Nets will also be battling to change the course of the future, as the Knicks are 3-1 since the Nets moved to Brooklyn.

If New York can get the win, it will snap a two-game losing streak and feel like a good recovery from their 98-95 loss to the Detroit Pistons, which dropped them below .500.

The Knicks have not been getting the production they need from Carmelo Anthony who shot 5 of 21 from the field against Detroit and scored only 13 points, well below his 19.6 point season average.

Despite Anthony’s poor performance, it was on the other side of the ball that they lost the ball game. New York allowed Detroit to score 11 three pointers.

The Nets are 10th in the NBA from behind the arc with 37.1 percent accuracy. If the Knicks cannot defend the long ball it will be a long night for them.
