Brooklyn Nets Secure Early Postseason Berth
The Brooklyn Nets aren’t resting on their laurels despite becoming the first Eastern team to qualify for the playoffs on Tuesday.
Thanks to a 116-103 win over the Toronto Raptors, the Brooklyn Nets cannot finish any lower than 6th place. They currently hold the No.1 seed, a game and a half ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers.
The favorite berth is new to the Nets this season after they assembled a roster packed full of All-Stars. They have though, taken to the mentality of NBA Championship contenders.
Head coach Steve Nash said they have their eyes on ‘bigger things’ after securing their postseason place.

Despite the fuss made over the Nets’ Big 3, they have achieved this without playing their superstars consistently.
James Harden, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have still only played seven games together all season. Harden is currently some way off recovering from a hamstring issue.
“It’s great,” Steve Nash said.Â
“I think we have our eyes on bigger things, but it’s a nice first step to clinch a berth. For this group, facing all we’ve faced, to be in this position with 10 games left is very positive.
“I think everyone’s in a positive mood,” Nash added.Â
“And just want to keep building, keep getting better, keep improving before the playoffs start, which is in a limited amount of time.”

“It is something that we can hang our hats on,” Big man Jeff Green said. “That’s something we can be proud of, but we also have to realize that that’s not the goal. … We have to take on the next step, and that’s focusing on what we need to accomplish in the playoffs to get to our ultimate goal.”
“We have to be excited with some of the things that we’ve done, but we can’t be content and we have to continue to work,” said Green.
