Bruce Arians says ‘no decision’ made on Jameis Winston’s future

Jameis Winston, Bucs

Before Saturday’s loss, a report indicated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing Jameis Winston back in 2020. After the game Bruce Arians disputed that.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that the Bucs will bring Winston back and are going to use a variation of the franchise tag to do it.

When asked about whether the report was true, Arians said, “no decision has been made on any player.”

This response, of course, came on the heels of Winston throwing four interceptions—including a pick-six on his first attempt and the game-sealing interception late in the fourth quarter—as the Bucs lost 23-20 in a very winnable game.

Winston, to date, has the second-most touchdowns in the league with 31 and a league-leading 28 interceptions.

The turnover problem is something that’s plagued him since his Florida State days and has proven hard for him to overcome at the professional level.
