Bruins Open Another Season Hosting Aggies at the Rose Bowl

College football’s first full lineup of games ends Sunday with a number of big matchups including the Texas A&M Aggies visiting the UCLA Bruins. The current line on top sportsbooks has UCLA favored by 4 points with the over/under point total sitting on 58.

From the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California the Bruins will welcome the Aggies for the second straight season. Both teams hope to start their season strong after finishing poorly last season. Texas A&M lost four of its last five games, while UCLA lost six of its last season.

Last season in the opening game, Texas A&M beat UCLA in overtimes but the Aggies are a much different team starting this season. The Aggies have not been forthcoming with who will start at quarterback but it appears Jack Hubenak is thought to have the best chance.

On the other hand, the UCLA starting quarterback position has never been up in the air with Josh Rosen returning to start for the third straight season. Last season Rosen played just six games but as a freshmen in 2015 threw for 3,670 yards and 23 touchdowns

The Aggies will have their own offensive firepower with Trayveon Williams their leading rusher from last season returning, while their top receiver Christian Kirk also returns. Williams could see a number of rushes, since the team is unsure of who will be their starter under center.

UCLA did not have any player gain over 350 yards rushing last season and the team’s average per game rushing of 84 yards was second to last in the country. Bolu Olorunfunmi will start for the Bruins at running back, but Nate Starks and Soso Jamabo will see their opportunities as well.

Three members of the UCLA secondary return from last season when the Bruins defensive backfield ranked No. 7 in the nation for pass efficiency defense in 2016.

UCLA wide receiver Darren Andrews has 98 receptions and 1,152 yards receiving combined the past two seasons, which are the most receptions during that period by any receiver in the Pac-12.

Texas A&M is 5-16 against the spread in its last 21 games played.

UCLA is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games against opponents from the SEC.
