Blaine Gabbert injured his shoulder during the team’s third preseason game and has been out of commission ever since. The thought was at the time of his injury that Gabbert would be able to return to action, so he wasn’t placed on Injured Reserve right away. Obviously that prognosis has changed.

The Bucs have starter Jameis Winston fully healthy, and he’s had some good moments this season. Unfortunately, Winston has also doomed his team with turnovers in two of the three games played so far.
With Blaine Gabbert out for the foreseeable future, the Buccaneers have nobody behind Winston except for Ryan Griffin, who has never attempted a single pass in an NFL regular-season game.
