Caleb Williams ‘Fun To Watch’ Says Titans HC Brian Callahan
New Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan says his team must treat rookie Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams with respect.
Caleb Williams was drafted No.1 overall by the Bears, and there’s a little extra anticipation around him. Why? He was given an overall draft score of 96. That’s the second-highest a rookie quarterback has been rated since 2003.
However, as history shows, the Titans are not a launchpad for the careers of No.1 pick quarterbacks.

In fact, none of the last ten No.1 quarterbacks to face Tennessee in Week 1 have won. Kylar Murray managed a draw but the rest have lost. That’s a list that includes Matthew Stafford, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence and Jameis Winston.
Nonetheless, Callahan didn’t play down the quality of the quarterback the Titans will face in their season opener.
On Monday, Tennessee’s new coach, Brian Callahan, glowed about the rookie quarterback.
“He’s everything a No. 1 pick you would expect to be,” Callahan said.
“You have to treat him as such and treat him with that kind of respect. Obviously you have to earn that in this league. He’s got to do it in regular-season games. I just hope it isn’t in the first week.”
The last No.1 quarterback to beat the Titans in Week 1 was David Carr in 2002. Caleb Williams is up against history but more immediately, he’s up against a bona fide NFL defense.

The Titans will provide a sterner test than anything the Bears rookie has faced in pre season. Callahan will hope to be able to admire him every Sunday bar the upcoming one.
“I’m a huge fan of Caleb Williams and what he did at USC,” Callahan said. “I’ve watched him over the years. Really dynamic player. It’s really fun as a fan of quarterbacks to watch him play.”
