Ah yes. The 140th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs took place on Saturday to open the Triple Crown season. It’s the one day a year everyone—outside of degenerate gamblers—that horse racing does, indeed, exist.
California Chrome edged out the rest of the field, the favorite with 2-1 odds. Jockey Victor Espinoza pulled away from the rest of the pack late in the race after beginning in the fifth post position.
Of course, everyone knows the real story at the Derby is almost always the outrageous fashion. Women are well known to wear over-the-top hats, but if you think hats and ostentatious fashions are just for the ladies, think again.
