Cam Newton ‘has not ruled out’ backup position
Contradicting multiple reports to the contrary in recent days, a new report centers around the idea that Cam Newton could be open to a backup role.
Given his limited options, Newton may be forced to sign as a backup. And according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, he may be open to that “in the right situation.â€

A starter throughout his career, Newton is in an interesting position now after being released by the Carolina Panthers. He is coming off a season-ending injury. Teams cannot get a first-hand look at his health right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the meantime, since his release teams have already filled their rosters.
There’s always a chance Cam Newton will continue to wait things out this summer. He could simply remain a free agent hoping that a team’s starter suffers an unfortunate injury, necessitating his services.
