Cam Newton Is “Tired of Sucking” for Patriots

Cam Newton was relieved on Sunday as the New England Patriots edged past the winless New York Jets.

After poor showings against the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills, Cam Newton delivered against New York. New England was down 27 – 17 entering the fourth quarter against the Jets.

Cam Newton and his teammates came back and won the game 30 – 27 in the dying seconds. In a tumultuous season for Bill Belichick’s team, this was a much needed win.

The performance wasn’t what the Patriots would have wanted against a winless team. However, Newton said the result was the most important thing.

“To God be the glory, man, it’s been a long last couple of games in the last month. But yet, this could kick-start right where we want to be,” Newton told ESPN.

“We just showed resiliency today and I’m just so happy for those guys in that locker room to keep just battling back. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a win.”

It’s too early to say their season is saved, but it is a starting point for New England. After dealing with a Covid-19 outbreak, Newton’s adaptation stalled. If they had lost to the Jets, the outlook would have been grim.

“I’m getting tired of sucking, simple,” Newton added.

“As a competitor, you know what your standard is and taking pride in your work, that’s what it comes down to.”

“You not being able to hold your head up because you’re thinking too much, that’s one thing. But, at the same time, you’re solely responsible for the performance that you put up and I was extremely disappointed. I just did my job today, and that’s what it’s supposed to be each and every week.”
