Cardinals nearing an extension deal with Larry Fitzgerald
There was some talk heading into the 2017 season that Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald would call it quits. Instead, the future Hall of Famer decided to return for a 14th year with the team.
Despite the Cardinals’ struggles this season, it now appears that Fitzgerald will in fact be back in 2018. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Fitzgerald and the Cards are closing in on a one-year extension.
This has to be considered somewhat of a surprise. Normally players in Fitzgerald’s situation wait until the season has concluded to make a decision on returning. Obviously, the 10-time Pro Bowler has already made that decision.
Even at 34 years old, this former first-round pick continues to play at a high level. Dealing with multiple quarterbacks tossing him the rock under center, Fitz has caught 60 passes for 677 yards in nine games this season.
