Carson Wentz Backed by Eagles Coach Doug Pederson

Head coach Doug Pederson and The Philadelphia Eagles franchise are not currently considering replacing beleaguered and targeted quarterback Carson Wentz.

Against the Browns on Sunday, Carson Wentz was once again beaten up. Carson Wentz was pressured 16 times and hit 16 times. As well as that, he was sacked 5 times.

He posted a 41.1 passer rating when under pressure. He finished the game 21-of-35, passing for 235 yards, two interceptions and two touchdowns. His overall rating at the end of the loss to Cleveland was 75.3.

Despite the struggles of the 3 – 6 – 1 Eagles, Doug Pederson isn’t going to rip anything up.

“You’re sending the wrong message that your season is over,” Pederson said of potentially benching Wentz, via CBS 3’s Pat Gallen. “We have to work through this. When times get tough, that might be the easy thing to do.”

Instead, Pederson attributed his team’s issues to ‘the mistakes we’ve been making’.

“This is a test for our football team,” Pederson added.

“To see who is in and who is out. That’s the challenge to everybody. Challenging the leadership of the team and challenging the coaches to keep this thing together”

In any other division, the Philadelphia Eagles would be in big trouble with their current record. However, in the NFC East, things are still up for grabs.

While Philadelphia’s season is not yet over, it will be soon if they don’t start winning games. Pederson backs Wentz to be the guy to help the team to return to form.

“No questions about it,” Pederson said, via The Athletic’s Zach Berman. “He’s our starter.”

The Eagles next game is against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
