Championship Future Odds: Cavs Still Not Favorites To Win Championship
The team that will be named NBA Champions has been whittled down to three. The three remaining are the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. The only team to secure their spot in the finals so far is the Cavaliers. However, they are not the favorites to win an NBA Championship.
The Cavs 17/10 odds, but, according to the future odds, they should fear the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are 5/11 to win the NBA Championship, second best. The Rockets, who are 3-1 behind in their series with Golden State, are 50/1 to win a Championship.
Houston fans are likely expecting another big comeback from the Rockets, who battled back from being 3-1 down in their series with the Los Angeles Clippers to secure their spot in the Western Conference Finals. That series will be settled tonight.
The Cavs and Warriors last met back in February during the regular season. James scored a season-high 42 points, leading his team to 110-99 victory.
The Cavs know that playoff time is vastly different from regular season play, though. Just take their season series versus the Atlanta Hawks and compare it to Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavs and Hawks split games 2-2 in the regular season. Cleveland swept the Hawks in the playoffs.
While looking at season records, The Cavs do not want to encounter Houston either. The Rockets swept their season series against Cleveland.
The road to the championship will not be easy from Cleveland, nor will it be for Houston or the Warriors, whichever earns the right to face Cleveland in the NBA Championship.
