Chandler Jones Waiting On Contract Resolution
Chandler Jones says he’s not concerned about his contract negotiations, although it’s hard to believe him.
The Arizona Cardinals pass-rusher sat out OTAs and minicamp over the offseason in protest of a new deal that was not forthcoming.
Chandler Jones, who is in the last year of his contract, has requested a trade. However, he would probably accept a new deal or an extension.
It appears we can believe him when he says he doesn’t think about it on the field, as his 5 sack performance against Tennessee shows.

“I was more thinking getting the ball, so [quarterback] Kyler [Murray] can go score another touchdown, to be honest with you,” Jones said.
Entering his ninth season, Chandler Jones leads the league in sacks since he made his debut in 2012. This is in spite of suffering a season-ending injury in 2020, resulting in only one sack last year.
“I’m just playing football, honestly,” Jones said. “I just let my agent take care of that — the contract situation — but it is the last year of my contract and I just let that take care of itself.”
“When it comes to the season, I think doing your job is essential, putting the team first, ignore the noise and, and just managing expectations,” Jones said.

“I think I played best when I don’t go in thinking about the deal or the contract,” Jones said.Â
“Is it something that, I mean, [I think about] off the field? Yeah, I mean, of course. I don’t know where I’m gonna live next year. But in the same situation, I think, when the season starts, I tell my agent let’s put all that to a side, you take care of that.
“If you want to talk about it, you talk about it. As far as for me, I’m going to play, and I’m going to play my best football, and we’ll see what happens then.”
