Clippers Host Spurs In Tie-Breaking Game
Arguably, the most interesting series among the first round of the NBA playoffs is between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers. As good as the series is, it is equally toughest for bettors to take on.
With the series tied at 2-2, tonight one team will gain an advantage going into Game 6. It is not just the series that is tied. Bettors have also split the series as the ATS record in the series is also even. Both teams have also quailed the idea of home court advantage by winning each of one of their games on the road despite being underdogs. In other words, this series is a tough one for bettors to pin down.Â
The Clippers were able to shift home court advantage back in their favor in Game 4. LA was the 114-105 winner against the Spurs in San Antonio. LA were +6-point underdogs in the contest and covered the spread.
With home court advantage Los Angeles is now -2- point favorites against the Spurs, a point spread that should be covered giving the trend in the series. However, with the back-and-forth nature of this series, it is hard to say for sure.
The total has not even been consistent for bettors in this series. Game 1 closed with 208 points. Game 4 was set at under 200 points at most betting sites. Just like the series, though, the OVER/UNDER is tied at 2-2. The total for Game 5 is currently set at around 205 points at most books.
As far as pure strategy, it is hard to bet against the Spurs in Game 5. Greg Popovich, in his 19 years as coach of the Spurs, has gone 23-8 in Game 5 situations. When the Spurs won championships, they are 15-1 in Game 5s. The Spurs know the importance of going up 3-2 in a series and is a position they was to be playing in come Game 6.
This is a late night game with tip off scheduled at 10:30 p.m. ET. You can watch it on TNT.
