Clippers star Paul George will return to the floor during upcoming road trip

Throughout the first few weeks of the season, the L.A. Clippers have continued to take a precautionary approach with All-Star forward Paul George’s recovery from a pair of offseason shoulder surgeries.

However, there has been some steady progress in his rehab over the last few days that has now cemented his return for Thursday night against the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.

All-Star swingman Paul George is leaning toward making his LA Clippers debut on the road against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday, league sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

That will put him back on the floor the second game of the back-to-back set with the first one being the night before against the Houston Rockets. It comes as no surprise that George will split those games in his return as it’s too much work to be asking for him out of the gate.

The Clippers have been patient with George as they have allowed him to recover at his own pace. They have continued to experience much success even with him out of the fold as they have won seven out of their first 10 games played.

L.A. has benefited dramatically from its deep roster that has lessened the blow of having out of the mix. They possess arguably the best bench unit in the league, while Kawhi Leonard has stepped in firmly as the top offensive weapon.

There should be yet another adjustment period once George is back, as the team will learn to best utilize his talent on the floor.
