Colts And Cowboys Collide

This afternoon the game to keep your eye on is the battle between the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS

Both teams sit at 10-4 and both teams have garnered a reputation as pretenders in terms of their legitimacy at making a run at a Super Bowl appearance.

Tony Romo may be expected to more work than he would like to if DeMarco Murray is absent. Murray is the NFL’s top rusher and since he started getting more touches the Cowboys have been getting more wins. Murray is responsible for nearly 40 percent of the Cowboys total yardage. Murray broke is left hand last week and is questionable for this game.

If Murray is out the question becomes can the Cowboys fill his position with either Lance Dunbar or Joseph Randle without disruption to their game plan. Those two runner will have one of the top offensive lines blocking for them. However, it is a wait-and-see situation for the Cowboys in regards to the run game.

If the Cowboys have to rely on Romo’s arm it is not the worst to do so. Colts cornerback Vontae Davis may miss this game with a groin injury. If that is the case, Romo should have an easier time attacking the Colts’ secondary.

Dallas are the 3-point favorites to win this one. Dallas are just 2-5 against the spread at home this season. They have covered in their last two games, however, and they are 8-6 against the spread overall.

After having their run defense ate up by the New England Patriots, the Colts have buckled down, allowing only 3.6 yards per carry, which is bad news for a potentially Murray-less Cowboys offense.

Andrew Luck may spread the ball around a bit more in this game with T.Y. Hilton out nursing and ankle injury. The Colts have deep talent in the wideout position, so Luck will not be lacking in targets and should not face much resistance against the Cowboys weak secondary.

The Colts have the second best point spread cover in the NFL with 9-4-1. They are 4-2 against the spread when playing on the road.

The total is set at 55.5 points. The Colts have hit the over six time this season.
