Colts QB Andrew Luck expected to participate in practice this week
After four weeks without their star quarterback on the practice field, Andrew Luck appears ready to return. Indianapolis has had to go with Jacoby Brissett while waiting for the return of their face of the franchise.
Although Brissett has been a formidable backup thus far, the team may be considered a playoff contender with Luck back under center this season. According to Colts general manager Chris Ballard, Indianapolis may see a lot of Luck this week, via Mike Chappell of CBS4Indy.com.
“We’ll slowly start working him back into practice this week,” he said during the team’s Monday night radio show. “We’ll see how much he gets.
“But we’ve got a plan in place to where we want him to start getting him reps and then, in time as we can get him incorporated back into team work and all that, we’ll get him back on the field.”
Despite Luck’s pending return to the practice field, it remains to be seen when he may start his next game. Luck has had no definitive timetable for his return, but obviously, he’s inching closer and closer.
In the meantime, the Colts will continue to have Brissett leading the way as they hope to get another win with the backup leading the way for the time being.
In Week 5, the Colts will host another struggling franchise in the form of the San Francisco 49ers. Kyle Shanahan’s squad has yet to win a game as they’ll come into this matchup with the Colts at 0-4.
