Comparing The Raptors To The Bulls

NBA1

The Toronto Raptors are continuing to impress even when they are losing.

The Raptors dropped a game to the LA Clippers a couple of weeks ago, 126-118, but the headlines were not about how the Clippers won. Instead all anyone could talk about was Terrence Ross and with good reason.

Ross had an incredible game.  He scored-51 points against the Clippers.

Ross’ latest showing is simply a long list of impressive performances he has turned in since the trade of Rudy Gay.  Not to mention the fact that the Raptors also have another rising star on their roster in DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan is no slouch either.  He is generating All-Star buzz with fellow members of the NBA, Like Dwayne Wade speaking up and saying he is undoubtedly an All-Star.

The Raptors as a team are also accomplishing a lot. They are No. 1 in the Atlantic Division and No. 4 in the Eastern Conference, though they are hot on the heels of the Atlanta Hawks to take the No.3 spot.

The Raptors have accomplished all this despite the fact general manager Masai Ujiri was going to blow up the roster. According to a report by ESPN Ujiri had avery intention of trading anyone until the team could find a suitable player to build around. Gay’s trade was just suppose to be the tip of the iceberg.

However, since Gay’s trade DeRozan, Ross and the team as a hole as stepped up and are playing like a playoff squad.

They may not be ready to be contenders, but they are clearly ready to make a playoff run.

The Raptor’s incredible turn around could be used as a warning to management who may be too quick to ignite TNT to a roster.

Chicago Bulls management should be watching closely. Last month, Bulls management made some rash decisions with the Derrick Rose #thereturn going on (and off) for nearly three years now. They are clearly questioning whether they can build around rose.

They traded away Luol Deng, and the Bulls continue to truck on.  They are 7-3 on their last ten.

However, the rumor mill is still churning and it seems no Bulls player is safe as Joakim Noah, Kirk Hinrich and even head coach Tom Thibodeau are rumored to be on the chopping block as Chicago looks for talented players or better draft picks.

The Bulls are not quite as young as the Raptors are so this strategy may prove to be more effective in the end.
