Could Nick Foles Replace Carson Wentz Again?
One of the greatest quarterback stories in recent Super Bowl history is that of Nick Foles and Super Bowl LII.
When the Philadelphia Eagles lost Carson Wentz to injury, Nick Foles famously replaced him. He ended up leading Philadelphia all the way to the Super Bowl title.
Four years later, Wentz’s fresh start in Indianapolis has been hampered by a foot injury. With Jacob Eason, Brett Hundley and rookies Sam Ehlinger and Jalen Morton the only replacements, the Colts may have to find a solution in the market.Â
As a third-string veteran quarterback for the Chicago Bears, Nick Foles could be a good solution.

A defining factor here is Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich. Reich was the offensive coordinator for Philadelphia during the 2017 Super Bowl run.
As he was for Wentz, Reich could also be a huge drawing factor for Foles. The veteran signal caller was full of praise for his former OC.
“Listen, Frank Reich is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, coaches of all time. He understands me as a player,” Foles said. “He understands me as a person. But you know, I haven’t had any talks with them. I’m a Chicago Bear right now. But he knows me, he understands.”
Foles has even gone as far as saying his preference is to work for somebody he already knows. It’s easy to see why after an underwhelming few years post Super Bowl LII. Foles failed to make an impact at the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019. As well as that, his seven starts for the Bears last season left a lot to be desired.

“In this league, I don’t want to go to someone that I don’t know. I don’t want to … listen, great coaches, when you have a great coaching staff, it’s something special,” Foles said. “A big reason we were great in Philly was we had a great coaching staff. They put us in a position to succeed, and it showed. Everyone can say it showed. That being said, I don’t want to just go somewhere where I don’t know ’em, I don’t know the offense. I’ve gone down that road before, and it’s not fun.”
