Cowboys holdout Ezekiel Elliott has not countered latest contract offer
The Dallas Cowboys officially placed star running back Ezekiel Elliott on the did not report list on Friday. This means he’s officially a holdout from the team’s training camp as the back looks for a record-breaking contract extension.
In talking about the situation at hand, NFL Media’s Jane Slater notes that Elliott and his camp has yet to submit a counteroffer in negotiations with the Cowboys.
Despite the #Cowboys extending an offer to RB Ezekiel Elliott, sources informed tell me his management team has yet to submit a counter offer. #ZekeWatch

The Cowboys have maintained repeatedly that Zeke is part of their plans and that they feel they have the financial wherewithal to sign him, even as they extend core pieces like Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, Byron Jones, and Jaylon Smith.
But Elliott is a running back, and a heavily-used one at that, and he has had issues staying off the NFL’s radar off the field; those factors will surely weigh on negotiations.
The situation does not appear to be wearing on any of Elliott’s teammates yet, either. Unlike the situation with Le’Veon Bell in Pittsburgh last year, Elliott appears to have the support of some members of the offense.
