Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott Shows Up Overweight in Dallas
Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott will see his first preseason action this week. The No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft was sidelined during the end of camp and in the first two exhibition games with a hamstring injury.
We now know why Elliott’s hamstring started to bother him earlier in the summer. At the very least, we know what could have helped lead to the injury.
According to Monday Morning Quarterback’s Albert Breer, Elliott reported to his first training camp about six pounds overweight.
And while Elliott was working off that additional weight prior to the hammy injury, the Cowboys made sure to take it slowly with him.
Six pounds may not seem like a whole lot for a NFL player. That’s just on the surface. Having to carry around additional weight could potentially slow down a running back on the field. It could also lead to injury.
Elliott is expected to play about a dozen snaps in his preseason debut on Thursday. It will definitely be interesting to see how he looks.
