Cowboys TE Jason Witten expected to retire, join MNF

Jason Witten, Cowboys

Cowboys tightend Jason Witten is pondering retirement after 15 years with the team, according to ESPN.

ESPN says Witten, 35, plans to join the network’s new Monday Night Football broadcast team as a lead analyst. Witten will meet today with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones before making his final decision on retirement.

Witten recently signed a new contract for four years and had planned to play beyond this season, however according to ESPN’s report, those plans may be changing.

Witten is fourth all-time in NFL history for pass receptions and is only the second tight end in history to have more than 12,000 receiving yards, according to ESPN.
