CUSA Week 8 Preview (NCAAF)

There was a big of a commotion on Thursday night in the CUSA.  SMU defeated Houston in the second highest scoring game in the history of the CUSA.  SMU scored 72 points, a school record.  The game had a core of 114 combined points.

We will have to put the excitement of Thursday behind us as some more great CUSA football is coming up on Saturday.  Here is a preview of some of the CUSA game I’ll be watching this weekend.

Rice @ Tulsa

Tulsa is coming into their game against Rice hot.  They have won their last six ball games and these were not lucky wins.  Tulsa is a good team.  They have the 10th best rushing offense nationally.  Four Tulsa running back have 400 hundred plus rushing yards.

What does all this mean for Rice?

It doesn’t look good for them.  Rice just snapped a four game losing run, but it looks like they will be putting another check in the loss column.

Tulsa is the -21.5  favorites according to the point spread at Betonline.com.  The likelyhood of Rice pulling an upset is slim to none. The moneyspread for Rice +945, a risky better could stand to make a big turn around of Rice somehow upsets Tulsa.  Tulsa’s moneyline is at -1375.  The over/under is at 63.5.

It looks like Tulsa is on their way to winning seven in a row.

UCF @ Memphis

The big story to follow in this game is UCF’s quarterback Blake Bortles has not thrown an interception in 121 passing attempts.  UCF is also undefeated in the conference.  With the way Memphis has been playing Borles will likely hold on to this impressive record and UCF will add to their winning record.

Memphis is coming out of a game where they were borderline humiliated by East Carolina.  UCF is coming out of a nail biting overtime victory over Southern Mississippi.  It was the first OT win in UCF history.

Like the previous game, the odds are ridiculously one sided in this game according to Betonline.com.  the spread has UCF as the favorite at -21.  The moneyline is at -1400 for UCF and Memphis at +970.  The over/under is at 50 points.

East Carolina @ UAB

Unlike the previous two game, which I will be watching to see if these teams will be maintaining some unique stats, I ”ll be watching East Carolina versus UAB  because this is going to be a close game.

The Pirates are coming out of a game where they simply dominated Memphis.  East Carolina quarter back, Shane Carden, threw a whopping five touchdowns.  That was good enough to get Carden the CUSA offensive player of the game.  UAB does not have the best win/loss record admittedly, but the book keepers at Betonline.com have this game penciled in as being a close one.

East Carolina is the favorite in this game by just -2.5 according to the point spread.  Negative line for East Carolina is -135.  UAB is the slight underdog at +115.  This is not a high stakes money makes to bet on but is still exciting to bet on given the close nature of the odds.  The over/under is at 56.
