Dallas Cowboys Open Preseason Against Relocated Rams
The Week 1 schedule for the 2016 NFL preseason continues on Saturday from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum when the Dallas Cowboys visit the Los Angeles Rams. The current line has Los Angeles favored by 4 points with the over/under point total sitting on 36.5.
Last season Dallas was 4-12 while Los Angeles played in St. Louis and was 7-9. The Rams look to start fresh in a familiar place as they once played at home in Los Angeles prior to moving to St. Louis after the 1994 season has finished.
The Rams offense will start fresh as well with their No. 1 pick in the draft being Jared Goff a quarterback. Goff and Case Keenum the Rams quarterback from last season will share duties on Saturday.
At running back, the Rams have Todd Gurley, who was last season’s Rookie of the Year on offense and Pharoh Cooper and Tavon Austin two a talented wide outs that can stretch the field putting pressure on any secondary in the league.
The Rams defense also should improve this season with players like Aaron Donald, Mark Barron and Robert Quinn anchoring that side of the ball. The Rams could be a surprise this season in the league.
Dallas missed the postseason last year after winning the NFC East division the year before. However, injuries were the biggest reason the Cowboys played poorly last season with Tony Romo their star quarterback, Dez Bryant their best wide receiver and Jason Witten their talented tight end out much of the season.
The Cowboys drafted running back Ezekiel Elliott who should see action in the game and help with the running game that was not the same last season after DeMarco Murray left before the start of the season to play with Philadelphia.
Dak Prescott will be the Dallas backup quarterback. The rookie from Mississippi State was expected to battle with Kellen Moore for the job, but Moore broke an ankle during practice and will miss up to four months.
Dallas is 1-5 against the spread in its last six games versus teams in the NFC and 0-3-1 ATS over their past four games overall. The UNDER has cashed in each of Dallas’ past 5 games on the road.
Los Angeles is 1-5 ATS over its past 6 games played on Saturday. The UNDER has cashed in 6 of the past 7 games the Rams have played overall.
Romo will not play much if at all in this game and Prescott still has much to learn. Look for the Rams quarterback battle to produce touchdowns in this game.
Prediction: Rams will play starters more than Cowboys. Rams will scored more than Cowboys. Lean on Rams in this.
