Dan Campbell Channelling Underdog Energy In Detroit
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is taking inspiration from Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike heading into 2022.
Rich Strike was 16th with 33 seconds left before pulling off an incredible comeback victory in the derby.
The parallels with Detroit are obvious, as they haven’t won a postseason game since 1991. The Lions have not even appeared in the playoffs since 2016.
Dan Campbell had a 3-13-1 record in his first season coaching the NFC North’s bottom franchise.Â

The Lions have recruited well this offseason, bringing in first-round picks Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams. As well as that, free agents D.J Chark and DeShon Elliot have come on board.
“We kind of feel like we may be Rich Strike here,” Campbell said.

“I just think I’ve got guys like Rich Strike,” Campbell said. “Every time we hear the S-O-L, same old Lions, and all the stuff, I think it fuels our fire. We love it. I think that’s how we all feel. That’s how we all talk. That’s how we all think. There’s nothing fake about it.”
