Darrell Henderson Relishing Chance To Learn From Gurley

New Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson has spoken about the opportunity to learn from Todd Gurley.

Darrell Henderson was picked by the Rams in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. After Gurley’s drop off at the end of last season, questions were asked of the Rams in free agency.

They have their man now, though, and Darrell Henderson says that the Rams are a perfect fit for him.

The former Memphis running back will be a backup, at first. Henderson is looking forward to the ‘incredible opportunity’.

“Todd’s a great guy and he’s someone that every running back should want to learn from,” Henderson said.

“Getting to be there with him and getting to work with him every day is an unbelievable opportunity. I’m just going to take the knowledge he gives me and watch how he works and learn from it and bring it to my game.”

Henderson amassed 3,545 rushing yards on 431 carries and 36 rushing touchdowns (44 in total) for Memphis. During his final two seasons, he averaged 8.9 yards per carry, and 8.2 over his entire college career.

Henderson believes that his college experience will help him fit right in in Los Angeles.

“If you go back and watch my college film and you watch the Rams film, it’s the same,” Henderson said.

“I thought that was the best system I could get in. So everything worked out great. When I was talking to them, everything was clicking and we developed a relationship. The coaches told me they knew they were going to get me so it was the perfect fit.”

Rams coach Sean McVay has talked up Henderson. He said the running back has a ‘specific skill set’, and could do ‘unique’ things for the offense.
