Dave Joerger: Luka Doncic Has No Ceiling
Before their victory over the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings coach Dave Joerger was complimentary about Mavs rookie Luka Doncic.
Speaking before the 120 – 113 road win, Dave Joerger said he sees unlimited potential in Luka Doncic.
Luka Doncic, of course, could have ended up playing with the Sacramento Kings after the 2018 NBA Draft. The Kings elected instead to trade the pick for Marvin Bagley III.
“He’s got a lot of different skills and I think he’s going to become a heck of a shooter,” Joerger said.
“And when that happens, it’s going to make him quicker. He’s got good ballhandling and he knows how to play.
“Perhaps there was an idea that there was a ceiling on him. I don’t see it, unfortunately for us. But he’s great for them and he’s great for our league.”

Sacramento Kings officials even met with Doncic in Madrid before the draft.
“They needed a big guy, so it was just a better fit for him,” Doncic said.
“I feel that I’m very excited to be in Dallas,” Doncic said. “I’m just very happy to be here.”
Despite missing out on Doncic, the Sacramento Kings have started the season well. The 16 – 13 Kings are tied for 6th place in the Western Conference.
The Kings are looking to end their NBA-longest playing drought which stretches back to it’s last winning season in 2006. They will hope to do so behind a young core of De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Willie Cauley-Stein.
