Deandre Hopkins and DeShaun Watson Preparing to Rip Up the NFL

Houston Texans wide receiver Deandre Hopkins believes that he and star quarterback DeShaun Watson can be the best NFL duo.

“I expect us to be the best duo in the NFL,” Hopkins said. “That’s my goal. I’m pretty sure that’s his goal. And if we have all these goals for ourselves, that’s going to help the team get what we get to.

“He wants to be great. I want to be great. So if two people want to be great, pushing each other, the sky’s the limit of what him and I can do.”

The pair played together 7 times last season before DeShaun Watson tore the ACL in his right knee. In those games, Watson threw for 19 touchdowns, of which 7 of those went to Hopkins. While Watson was fit at quarterback, Hopkins was on pace for 100 catches, 1,369 yards and 16 touchdowns.

DeShaun Watson was a rookie in 2017. The former Clemson quarterback  threw for 1,699 yards and 19 scores in the seven games he played. If he was able to continue, and at that rate, he would have thrown 3,883 yards and 43 touchdowns. Those potential 43 touchdowns would have broken the rookie QB record (26: Peyton Manning, 1998; Russell Wilson, 2012).

“It’s hard not to daydream what Deshaun can do with a full season under his belt,” Hopkins said. “He was only getting better and better each week.”

DeShaun Watson (22) also realises the heights that the Texans offense can reach in the new season:

“It’s very scary, the potential that we have,” Watson said. “We can do so many good things and we saw that last year in the short amount of time we had, but we just have to continue to be consistent.”
