DeMarcus Cousins Under Investigation for Domestic Violence

Things have gone from bad to worse for Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins.

DeMarcus Cousins recently sustained a torn ACL, likely ruling him out of his entire debut season for the Lakers.

Now, following Tuesday reports, DeMarcus Cousins is under investigation by the Lakers as well as the NBA.

He is in hot water over domestic violence allegations made against him by his ex-girlfriend, Christy West.

Audio evidence obtained by TMZ shows a male voice threatening West, who claims the voice is that of Cousins.

Christy West asserts that the pair had been arguing over allowing their 7-year old son to attend Cousins’ wedding.

The male voice heard on the recording says,  “I’m gonna ask you this one more time before I take it to another level … Can I have my son here, please?”

Cousins was married on Saturday in Atlanta, and his son did not attend. West claims that Cousins said he would ‘put a bullet in her f—ing head’, if she did not allow their son to go.

West also asserts that Cousins has choked her in past incidents. A Tuesday statement from the NBA confirmed that the league is ‘investigating the allegations’.

The Los Angeles Lakers also released a statement on the matter:

“We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously. We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time.”

Whatever happens, the 29-year-olds dream of once again playing with Anthony Davis and Rajon Rondo is over for a year. He spoke about their influence in his decision to join the Lakers earlier this summer.

“Obviously, I had two guys that I played with previously in my ear a lot; Rajon and A.D,” Cousins said in his first Lakers interview.

“They really put the pressure on me to make a decision to come here and team up again. Me and [Davis] talked about it numerous times, being teammates again. We never wanted it to end but everything kind of happens for a reason.”
